# Ways to connect

> Connect a tool for yourself or for the whole workspace, with a sign-in or a key

Every connection is either your own connection or the workspace connection. Each tool's page has the exact steps. This page explains the options that all tools share.

## For yourself or for the workspace

| | For yourself | For the workspace (admins only) |
| - | - | - |
| **Which account** | Your own account in the tool | An account your team creates only for Jamie |
| **Used by** | Ask Jamie, Sidekick, briefings, and your own workflows | [Workspace workflows](https://docs.meetjamie.ai/agent/workflows.md#workspace-workflows) only |
| **Jamie sees** | What your account can see | What the account for Jamie can see |
| **Shows in the tool as** | You | The account for Jamie |
| **Plan** | Depends on the tool | Team or Enterprise |

The two are separate. Connecting a tool for the workspace doesn't connect it for you, and connecting it for yourself doesn't connect it for the workspace. Members can't use the workspace connection in their own chats.

For the workspace, create an account in the tool only for Jamie, not a person's own login. Some tools call it a service account or an integration user. Give it access only to what workflows need, such as the projects or SharePoint sites that workflows file into.

## Sign in to the tool

Most tools connect with a sign-in. Jamie opens a popup where you sign in to the tool and approve access.

**For yourself**

**1. In Jamie**

1. Open [**Settings → Agent → Connectors**](https://app.meetjamie.ai/settings/agent#connectors)
2. Find the tool and click **Connect**
3. In the popup, sign in to the tool and approve access

**For the workspace**

**1. In Jamie**

1. Open [**Settings → Agent → Connectors**](https://app.meetjamie.ai/settings/agent#connectors) and select the tool
2. Under **Workspace connection**, click **Connect for workspace**
3. In the popup, sign in as the account for Jamie, not as yourself

For Microsoft 365, connect from the tool's details page, under **Permissions (workspace)**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If your browser blocks the popup, allow popups for app.meetjamie.ai and try again.

## Paste a key

Some tools connect with a key: a code that you create in the tool. Tools use different names for it, such as API key, API token, or access token. The tool's page says where to create it.

**For yourself**

**1. In Jamie**

1. Open [**Settings → Agent → Connectors**](https://app.meetjamie.ai/settings/agent#connectors)
2. Find the tool and click **Connect**
3. Paste the key under **API key** and click **Connect**

To change the key later, open the tool and click **Manage key**, then **Update key**. **Test connection** checks that the key still works.

**For the workspace**

**1. In Jamie**

1. Open [**Settings → Agent → Connectors**](https://app.meetjamie.ai/settings/agent#connectors) and select the tool
2. Under **Workspace connection**, click **Add service account key**
3. Fill in the fields and click the save button, for example **Save HubSpot key**

To use a different key later, click **Replace key**.

Jamie checks the key before it saves it. The check changes nothing in the tool.

## Connected by Jamie support

For some tools, such as [DealCloud](https://docs.meetjamie.ai/agent/connectors/dealcloud.md), Jamie support configures the connection for your workspace. The workspace connection then reads "configured by Jamie support".

A workspace admin can click **Use your own service account** to make workspace workflows use a key that your team manages. Everyone's chats keep using the connection that Jamie support configured.

## Where to connect

You can connect a tool from these places:

* [**Settings → Agent → Connectors**](https://app.meetjamie.ai/settings/agent#connectors), the full list of connectors
* **Connectors** under the Ask Jamie message box, then **Browse connectors** or **Manage connectors**
* **Connectors** at the top of the [Workflows](https://app.meetjamie.ai/workflows) page
* The workflow chat. Jamie offers to connect a tool there when a workflow needs one that isn't connected

Use the filters (**All**, **Connected**, **Available**, **Needs attention**, **Workspace**) or **Search connectors…** to find a tool.

## Turn a tool on or off

Each connected tool has an **Enabled in chats and workflows** switch. Turn it off to stop Jamie from using the tool. The tool stays connected.

The checkboxes in the Ask Jamie **Connectors** menu are the same switch. So they also apply to your workflows and briefings.

## When a tool needs attention

A tool shows under **Needs attention** if its sign-in expires, or if the tool rejects Jamie's access. Click **Reconnect** or **Authenticate** to connect it again. Workflows that need the tool pause until then.

## Disconnect

Open the tool in [**Settings → Agent → Connectors**](https://app.meetjamie.ai/settings/agent#connectors) and click **Disconnect**. For a key, click **Manage key**, then **Disconnect**. For the workspace connection, click **Disconnect** under **Workspace connection**.

Workflows that use the tool pause on their next run. They tell you that the connector is missing, instead of failing silently. Saved chats may still contain content that Jamie read from the tool.
