# Delete your account

> How account deletion works, and how to recover a deleted account.

When you delete your Jamie account, deletion is not immediate. Jamie schedules the deletion, signs you out of every device, and blocks any further login on your email address. Your data is only permanently removed once the recovery window elapses.

### The recovery window

| Account type               | Recovery window                                                |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Individual users           | 2 days                                                         |
| Enterprise workspace users | The workspace's configured user retention (30, 60, or 90 days) |

Enterprise workspaces control the length of the window through the `userRetentionDays` workspace setting. If it is shorter than 2 days, Jamie still enforces a 2-day minimum.

### How to delete your account

1. Open the Jamie app and go to **Settings → Account**.
2. Click **Delete account** and confirm.
3. You are signed out immediately. Your account and your email address are now locked and cannot be used to sign in through email, Google, Microsoft, Apple, or SSO.

Once the recovery window elapses, a background job hard-deletes your account and all associated data on its next run. After that point, the deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.

### Recover a scheduled deletion

If you change your mind during the recovery window, email [support@meetjamie.ai](mailto:support@meetjamie.ai) from the address on the account and ask us to cancel the deletion. Once we restore the account, you can log in again as normal.

<Info>
  While the deletion is scheduled, you cannot register a new Jamie account with the same email address. If you want to start fresh on the same email, either wait for the window to elapse or contact support to cancel first.
</Info>

If your account has already been hard-deleted, we can no longer recover it. You are welcome to sign up again as a new user.
