# Auto-stop recording (beta)

> Let Jamie stop recording your meetings automatically

With auto-stop, Jamie ends a recording on its own when your meeting is winding down - no need to remember to click **Stop**.

## How it works

While you're recording, Jamie watches for three signals at the same time. When all three are true at once, Jamie automatically stops the recording.

* **Your microphone becomes inactive** - for example when you leave a call in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or any other app that was using your mic.
* **The scheduled meeting is near its end** - in the final quarter of the calendar event, or within the last **15 minutes** before it ends. If there's no matching event in your calendar, Jamie won't auto-stop.
* **No speech has been detected for at least 15 seconds** - Jamie waits for a quiet stretch so a brief pause doesn't end your recording early.

  Auto-stop requires a **connected calendar**. Jamie links your recording to a calendar event when you start, so it knows when the meeting should end. Connect your calendar in **Settings → Integrations**.

## Managing auto-stop

Auto-stop is **off by default**. Turn it on when you want Jamie to handle stopping for you.

To review or change the setting:

1. Open the **Jamie desktop app**
2. Go to **Settings → Preferences**
3. In section **Meeting Automation**, toggle **Automatically stop Jamie** on or off

You can also configure a **countdown** before Jamie stops - enabled by default - so you have a few seconds to cancel if you're not done yet. Adjust **Give me time to cancel** and the countdown length in the same section.

  This setting can only be changed in the **Jamie desktop app**. If you're viewing your settings in the browser, open the desktop app to adjust it.

## When auto-stop won't trigger

To avoid ending a recording too early, Jamie will **not** auto-stop when:

* The **Automatically stop Jamie** setting is turned off
* You have **no connected calendar**, or the recording isn't linked to a calendar event that's near its end
* An app is still using your microphone
* Speech was detected within the last **15 seconds**
