# Data handling

> What happens with my data?

At Jamie, we take your data privacy rights very seriously, and it is a priority at every step of the engineering process.

As a company located in Germany 🇩🇪, we comply with the **General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)**, the comprehensive data protection law in the European Union (EU).

All your data is encrypted and stored using **Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)** algorithms in transit and at rest, and our team is required to go through security training and embrace best practices for data handling. We are also audited on a regular basis by an external auditor.

  <Accordion defaultOpen="false" title="What happens with your data, and where is it being stored?">
    The audio recording from your computer is uploaded to a server location in Frankfurt, Germany 🇩🇪, and then processed on a serverless GPU environment from [Modal](https://modal.com/) (no data is stored at Modal). Once the processing is done and your transcript is ready, we **delete all audio files permanently.**

    The transcript of a meeting is stored on a server located in Frankfurt, Germany 🇩🇪 to make it accessible to users.

    After the generation of your transcript, it is further processed via an [Anthropic](https://www.anthropic.com/) or [OpenAI](https://openai.com/) API to generate your meeting notes.

  <Accordion defaultOpen="false" title="Does Jamie use your data for training purposes?">
    No. Your data is never used to train Jamie's models, or any third-party models.

    Some features in Jamie improve as you use the product within your own account, such as speaker identification (Jamie remembers the name you assign to a voice) and custom words (Jamie remembers the acronyms and vocabulary you add). These improvements happen on a per-account basis and are only used to generate meeting summaries for your own account — they are not used to train any models.

<Info>
  **Note:** The information you provide to Jamie is exclusively associated with your account. Jamie does not engage in the practice of aggregating acquired information or data for cross-utilization among distinct user accounts. Consequently, the personalized custom word list and vocal data are exclusively used to generate meeting summaries specific to your account.
