Jamie can post a short message in the meeting chat once your recording starts, so everyone in the call sees that notes are being taken - without you having to type it yourself.
The meeting chat notice is in closed beta (limited invites only) and off by default. Each member switches it on themselves, on each device, in the Jamie desktop app (version 5.7.16 and above) - unless a workspace admin on the Enterprise plan decides it for everyone instead, see Deciding it for a whole workspace. Jamie never posts in a meeting chat unless it is switched on.
On macOS the notice only works once the member approves Accessibility access for Jamie on that Mac. Nobody else can grant it - not an admin, not Jamie - and Jamie does not currently block or chase anyone until they do. On any Mac without that approval, no notice is posted, even when the workspace setting says it’s on.

How it works

A few seconds after a recording starts, Jamie looks for the meeting window. When it finds one, it opens the chat if needed and posts your notice - once per recording. If you’re still in a waiting room or the meeting hasn’t opened yet, Jamie keeps looking every 15 seconds for the first 10 minutes of your recording.
Posting into the chat can bring the meeting window to the front and open its chat panel, because Jamie automates sending the message for you. If you’re clicking or typing yourself at that moment, the two can get in each other’s way - for best results give the window a moment after joining, and Jamie keeps trying if something interrupts it.

Supported meetings

Meetings in other apps, in a browser Jamie doesn’t recognise, or on your phone are not supported.

Turning it on

  1. Open the Jamie desktop app
  2. Go to Settings → Notifications → Compliance
  3. Switch on Meeting chat notice
  4. macOS only: Approve Accessibility access when prompted, or enable Jamie under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
Jamie needs Accessibility access on macOS to find the chat in your meeting window. Windows needs no extra permission. Both the switch and the macOS approval are per device - they have to be repeated on every Mac and PC a member records from.

Deciding it for a whole workspace

On the Enterprise plan, a workspace admin can decide the notice for everyone instead of leaving it to each member. Go to Settings → Preferences → Workspace features → Meeting chat notice and pick one of:

How the choice reaches members

The notice is a desktop setting, so Jamie applies the admin’s choice to each member’s device while their Jamie desktop app is open and signed in.

macOS Accessibility access is still up to the member

“On for everyone” cannot grant Accessibility access. Only users themselves can approve it, Jamie does not currently enforce it. Until they do, that Mac posts no notice, even though the workspace setting and their settings page show the notice as on. Their settings page keeps a Grant access prompt visible as the only reminder. An admin decision is therefore not yet a guarantee: macOS members are covered only once they have approved Accessibility access on each of their Macs, while Windows members are covered as soon as the setting reaches their device.

The message

Jamie always posts the same single-line notice: “I’m using Jamie (meetjamie.ai) for automatic transcription and note-taking.”

When the notice won’t be posted

  • The setting is off on that device, or a workspace admin turned it off for everyone
  • macOS Accessibility access hasn’t been approved on that Mac - including when an admin turned the notice on for everyone
  • The recording stopped before a meeting window appeared
  • No supported meeting window showed up within the first 10 minutes of the recording starting
  • The chat is unavailable - e.g. disabled by the host or takes a long time to load. Jamie does not retry in this case, so a message is never posted twice
  • You joined a client Jamie doesn’t support yet
Informing participants remains your responsibility, please check that the notice actually landed in meetings where it matters. Also see Recording consent for more information.

Zoom’s built-in notice options

Zoom account owners and admins on eligible plans can also configure a custom disclaimer that participants see when they start or join a meeting. Zoom lets you customize its title, description and target audience (internal, external, both). You can use Zoom’s disclaimer alongside or instead of Jamie’s meeting chat notice. See Zoom’s custom disclaimer settings for setup instructions.
