Set up for yourself

Works on all plans. Your own connection works in Ask Jamie, Sidekick, briefings, and your own workflows.

In GitHub

Nothing to prepare in most cases. You sign in with your own GitHub login. If your GitHub organization restricts third-party apps, an organization owner may need to approve Jamie. Until then, Jamie can’t see the organization’s repositories. See GitHub’s guide to approving OAuth apps for an organization.

In Jamie

  1. Open Settings → Agent → Connectors
  2. Find GitHub and click Connect
  3. In the popup, sign in to GitHub and approve access
  4. Back in Jamie, open GitHub
  5. Check that it shows Connected and working
  6. Check that Enabled in chats and workflows is on
Jamie can reach what you approve when you sign in. It never reaches more than your GitHub account can access.

Set up for the workspace (admins only)

You can’t connect GitHub for the workspace, so workspace workflows can’t use it.

What Jamie can do

Jamie can:
  • Read pull requests and their discussion
  • Search code in the repositories you can access
  • File new issues, such as one for a bug a customer raised in a meeting
Jamie can do more than this list. GitHub provides these features, so they can change when GitHub updates them. Try asking: “File a GitHub issue in acme/web for the login bug the customer described”

Disconnect

To keep the connection but stop Jamie from using GitHub for now, turn off Enabled in chats and workflows instead.
